10 years ago when I did the auto-x stuff my scca region lumped the awards banquet road racers with the Solo2. They said it’d be fun, but it was pretty boring.

I also didn’t win anything so there is that. (Metro, duh)

That shirt is better than a trophy.

I’m not entirely sure that isn’t intentional

It’s a jacket, and it has pockets on the inside. Glorious.

Hopefully this season I can get some Ground Control 550/350s on it and be competitive enough to go to the midwest divisionals!

That somehow doesn’t surprise me. I was a long-time autocrosser before I became a club racer, and there isn’t a ton of social crossover between those groups. For us, autocross awards banquets were done as regions, and the club racing banquet was done as a division. The autocross banquets were always the pleasant, polite affairs one expected. The club racing banquet was always a lot more fun. It usually featured a whole lot more alcohol (a chance to party like the Saturday night party at a race weekend, but without having to moderate enough to work a corner or a drive a racecar at 7:30am the next day, woo!).

I was surprised last night to find that our region banquet was autocross and road racing combined, and it started with a half dozen general awards including volunteer of the year that went to a road racer. But then there were a massive amount of autocross awards.

I guess the road racers don’t accrue season points?

Yeah, but that means you also came in last. Gotta do better than last place.

Seriously though, congrats.

For road racers in national classes, points are accured at the division level instead of the regional level for runoffs qualification. As a practical matter, regional only classes do the same. There was probably a division banquet and annual meeting where they gave out trophies and selected divisional officials and chiefs for road racing.
